Reinventing You

Are you ready to start a new chapter in your life?  Perhaps you want to start a new career, move to a different area, start a new business, or completely change the direction of your life.  It is never too late.  In fact, it is absolutely ok to embrace a new start and a new chapter of your life.  It is time to reinvent you.

Too often than not, as we get older, we sometimes feel stuck, defeated, or believe that it is too late to fulfill our dreams.  Every day you wake up is a new day to fulfill your dreams and goals.  Every day that you wake up is a new day to begin the process of changing careers, to start living in your purpose, embark on a new venture and so on.  Instead, many of us stay stuck in our comfort zone for too long myself included.

So many people stay on a job for many, many years, even though they cannot stand that job, and the job gives them stomach ulcers.  They will often use the excuse of how they should just stay since they have been there for so long, develop an unnecessary fear of starting over somewhere else, talk about how good the benefits are, and so on.  This is nothing more than them trying to convince themselves to simply stay put although they are not happy.  They are convincing themselves to just stick to the status quo.

Life is too short to be miserable for a majority of it, and most of us spend a lot of time at work.  I understand however, that sometimes people need to do what they have to do until they can do what they want to do, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.  However, do not just become stagnant, especially knowing that where you currently are, is not the life that you want.  You do not want another ten or twenty years to pass by only to regret not even trying.

The same is true with relationships.  A lot of people, both men and women, will oftentimes stay in dead end relationships because they are familiar.  There is a level of comfort in knowing the person they are with, and they do not want to start over to get to know someone else.  Rather than just being single and allowing the universe to bring them the person they are meant to be with, they would rather stay, unhappily, in their current relationship.  I know many people myself included, that have stayed in relationships much longer than they should have, but I am glad that I did not just give in and stay after a while, simply because we had a history.

You need to be happy.  Why stay somewhere if you are genuinely not happy?  You are only too old when you have moved on from this life and into the next.  Every day that you open your eyes is another day to go after the life you want, to begin that new venture, to begin searching for that new job, to begin writing that book, that screenplay, to begin learning how to code, study engineering, begin the process of opening your yoga studio, and so on.  Whatever it is, it is never too late. As I write this article, I am also talking to myself.
