The Beauty of Crystals

Hey there you beautiful, awesome, magical being.  I hope you are having an amazing day, an amazing week, and an amazing month!  I’m in my happy place right now as I write this article.  I am sitting in my sanctuary, which is a corner of my home.  My Palo Santo & Cedar Wood scented candle is ablaze, jazz music is playing in the background, and my dragon’s breath incense is burning.  My crystals glow under the light of the candle.  Welcome to my happy place.

I absolutely love crystals, not only for their innate natural beauty, but for the powers that they hold.  But first things first.  I must give a shoutout to my friend Erika, also known as Queen Auset Heru, who has a YouTube Channel called “Ask an Aquarius.”  Be sure to check her out.  She gave me my very first crystal many years ago, which was a green aventurine.  This stone is known as the Stone of Opportunity, due to its ability to assist you in manifesting wealth and prosperity.  It is also good for releasing old patterns and habits to allow new growth to occur.  Erika has been one of several people that have been pivotal in my spiritual journey, introducing me to crystals, vision boards, the law of attraction, meditation, and much more.  I must give credit where credit is due.  So, Erika if you are reading this, a huge THANK YOU!

Since my introduction to crystals, I have been researching the powers they hold, how to work with them and set intentions, and of course how to charge and cleanse them.  As part of my research, I purchased a book called “Crystal Power, Crystal Healing” by Michael Gienger.  I love the beautiful photography in the book as well as the in-depth explanations that are provided on all sorts of crystals.  As years went on, I started purchasing crystals from various shows and expos that I attended, as well as on Amazon and Etsy, and even during my visits to other countries.  My collection however is rather small compared to others, but that is ok.  We are all on our own journey, and eventually I will purchase others as I feel the need to do so.

Humans have been using crystals for various healing and ritual purposes for centuries.  Diverse groups of people have turned to crystals and gemstones to address various needs over the millennia.  Some of our ancestors may have used them.  And I say some, because I never know the diverse group of amazing people that may be reading my blog, and I want to be respectful of everyone.  However, many of our ancestors sought healing from spirit doctors, shamans, minerals, special ceremonies, herbs, and crystals, and many regard crystals as possessing mystical powers.  When we in the modern western world think of healing, we often think of hospitals, white coats, and of course prescription medication.

Crystals hold a lot of power and information, and have the ability to heal, but this ability can fade over time, if the crystal is not “charged” properly.  Just like humans need our rest to recharge, so too do crystals.  Now I know that some people have reservations about crystals, working with them and so on.  I’ve heard all kinds of things like, Jesus is the only way, working with or having crystals is evil, and much more.  Let me be clear.  I grew up in a Christian household and attended a Baptist Church.  Although I have my own opinions about the organized “religion” itself and the Church, I absolutely believe in God.  I believe in an Ultimate Supreme Creator regardless of what you choose to call that Creator.  However, I also believe that certain things are here for a reason such as crystals.

As I have matured over the years in my spiritual walk, I started asking questions, and in a sense, my spiritual journey started at that point.  I no longer simply accepted the status quo and what I have been taught my entire life.  This led me to being who I am today; a curious being on a spiritual journey constantly seeking wisdom and knowledge.  That is how crystals became a part of my life.  So perhaps you may be interested in learning more about crystals.  Some believe that crystals can stimulate spiritual growth and bring about positive transformation in life experience.  I say go for it.  Learn as much as you can about whatever you want.  If you ultimately decide that it is not for you, that is fine.  But we will never know where something may lead if we do not try it.  You may surprise yourself.
