Badass Women

Hey there you beautiful, awesome, magical being!  I hope that you are having an amazing day, an amazing week, and an amazing month!  I am here once again to spread some positivity, joy and inspiration.

I have a message for all of you beautiful, hardworking ladies out there.  Although we are well past International Women’s Day, this message is nonetheless timeless and applies any day of the year.  Us women are truly badass.  As an ambitious, passionate minority woman, I have been called aggressive, bossy, blunt, too direct, too ambitious (As if that is even a thing), too difficult, and so on.

The part that really annoys me to the core is the oh so popular angry black woman mantra.  Just stop.  Why is it that when members of other groups are passionate about something, the person is called stern, passionate, strong, a go getter, and so on?  Yet, a black woman showing that same passion, is often labeled as angry, annoyed, aggressive and more.  So, here’s a short message to all of you amazing ladies out there, especially my beautiful black women:

• Keep being assertive, even when you are told that you are too aggressive.

• Keep being a leader, even when you are told that you are too bossy.

• Keep asking questions, even when you are told that you are too direct.

• Keep telling the truth, even when you are told that you are too difficult.

• Keep taking up space, even when you are told that you are too much.

• Keep dreaming big, even when you are told that you are too ambitious (Again, how is this even a thing?!).

 Turn those dreams and goals into plans and execute on those plans by putting them into action.  You can and will meet every goal that you set for yourself.  Never give up on your dreams, because you can do anything that you set your mind to.  You will always be “too” something to the wrong people or the wrong person.  That means that they are not your people, or that is not your person.  Simply put, that is not your tribe. 

You already know that you are a magical being who has the ability to accomplish and achieve anything that you want! We all are! As I type these words for whomever is reading this right now, these words are also for me. We must always remember that we are unapologetically badass women! Never forget that. Now carry on with your day, with your head held high knowing that you will have a magical day filled with peace, love, joy, and positivity. Now go after those goals and ignore those haters that say you are “too” anything!
